POSITION SUMMARY Book Processing Technicians perform a core group of tasks, listed below. Technicians apply various products to books according to detailed library specifications, in order to deliver 'shelf ready' books to our customers. Technicians must be able to meet productivity and quality goals as defined by the Book Processing metrics system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The following statements describe the general nature of work being performed in this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Additional duties may be assigned by Management): Core tasks include the application of the following products: barcodes; theft detection devices; stamps; date dues and similar products including book plates; adhesive and foil spine and book labels; and label protectors. Additional core tasks include Quality Control; scanning barcodes; and alphabetizing books. Some employees may be assigned additional tasks, including: applying poly covers; easy covers; cutting covers; hinge reinforcement; bindery work; book repair, pick list preparation; applying Selin labels; and updating various internal documents. Assigned tasks may include other jobs which are not listed. Technicians must: Meet or exceed quality standards to ensure customer requirements are met. Meet or exceed productivity standards. Be able to use a computer and a scanner to enter barcode data. Use a computer for other essential computer-based programs. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS High School graduate or GED Basic computer skills Excellent attention to detail Comprehend and act upon detailed written and verbal technical instructions Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team Good work attitude and a strong commitment to company goals regarding productivity, quality, and efficiency. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; frequently talk and hear; regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs, and may occasionally lift/move up to 100 lbs depending on the assignment; must regularly walk and move carts full of books; may occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and specific vision requirements include close vision for viewing PC/CRT monitor. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
