For sale here is an old violin, as pictured.Description: This is a full-size violin, measuring about 23 5/8" long overall, 14 1/16" body length and 7 7/8" wide at the widest point. The top is spruce, the back, ribs and neck are maple. The fingerboard is ebony. The label inside reads "Georgius Hopf in Mitten-vald an der Iser 1779." I'm not sure of the date, but I don't think it really matters, because I think that the label is probably fake. The violin was probably made in Germany.Condition: As purchased many years ago at a local antique auction, and as seen in the pictures. There are some repaired cracks in the top, including several near the neck and at both lower F hole wings. There are also several small rib cracks, including two near the end pin hole. There are no cracks in the back, the peg box or in the sound post or bass bar areas. The peg box is grafted onto the neck. The back button is a replacement. There is a small piece of replaced top edge near the neck. The pegs fit well. Three are matching ebony, and one is a non-ebony replacement. There is a shim between the neck and the finger board. The sound post is standing in position. The condition of the violin can best be assessed from the pictures. Look at them; they are part of the description.To be made playable, this violin needs some open seams re-glued and standard set-up work: bridge, tail piece, strings, chinrest, etc. Please contact me if you have any questions or if you want more pictures. Great EQ, only problem is that it's been sitting around too long. Purchased it for a backup. However my back is out, so I stopped a long time ago. Also the perfect eq for a musicians home stereo. Lost boxes and manuals a long time ago, sure the manual can be downloaded or ordered from the company....
